Does sleeping pills help insomnia treatment?

I have dealt with dehabilitating insomnia for over 5 years. Since I have been pregnant, it has magically dissapeared (Thank God!!) and I feel pretty great. I’m kind of worried about it returning after the birth of my daughter. I used to be on all kinds of prescribed drugs to help me sleep, but the in turn almost ruined my life. I was a walking zombie, addicted to multiple antidepressents and sleep inducers. After going through a horrible withdrawal period from all these drugs, I told myself I would never do it again. Years ago, for a short time, I made a marijuanna tea at night to help me sleep. It was wonderful! It worked like a charm, and I would wake up feeling great. I stopped because my dr said I should, and that’s when I started getting prescribed all the pills. So I’m kind of thinking about revisiting that therapy in case it does come back later in life. I know I can expect a variety of answers here, and I welcome them all! What do you guys think of this idea?
